In early 2006, the Mercedes-Benz CLS-based BRABUS ROCKET raised the bar further with a new world record of 362.4 km/h. However, they thought they could do even better, and in mid-October 2006, they returned to the world-famous Nardo high-speed oval in southern Italy for another try.
There, under the scrutiny of TÜV Süd, the world’s fastest production coupé shattered its previous world record with a breathtaking 365.7 km/h Vmax over a flying kilometer. Because Nardo is a banked circuit, tyre scrub reduces any recorded top speed measured there. On a flat autobahn in still air, the actual top speed would be even higher.
